All you need to know about Hua Hin!
Hua Hin is located around 200km from Bangkok, on the western side of the Gulf of Thailand. The city is a renowned seaside resort that became a popular destination for Bangkokians looking for relaxing breaks after the 1920’s – so much so that the Thai royal family built a summer palace there. This is a popular beach resort with long stretches of golden sand.
The city is far more laid back than Pattaya or Phuket but that doesn’t mean that you will be struggling to find something to see or do. The picturesque train station is popular visitor attractions as too is the Chinese temple and Hua Hin Hills Vineyard. Hua Hin aims for those looking to wind down and take things easy rather than those looking to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Bangkok or the nightlife of Pattaya.
If you are interested in sport then this is a superb city for you. Hua Hin Beach is popular with kite surfers and those looking to participate in other water sports. Scuba diving schools are also available and cater for everyone from novices to experts. There are a number of championship standard golf courses nearby that are very reasonably priced – certainly in comparison to Europe or indeed other parts of Asia.
There are lots of bars and restaurants around the city with seafood and Scandinavian restaurants being particularly popular. The local Thai restaurants are also excellent for those looking to enjoy something that is a little bit authentic. Like most tourist destinations in Thailand, every budget and palate is catered for.
Hua Hin has plenty of hotels that vary from those in the budget range to upmarket, international hotels. Songthaews (shared taxis) are the public transport of choice for most with four routes around the city available. Motorbike taxis are also plentiful although visitors may choose to see the city on foot as it is more concentrated than some other locations.
